I am a licensed mental health counselor in Florida (MH#14522). I have a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Antioch University. I have advanced training from the Gestalt Institute of New England and the Center for Mindfulness at UMass Memorial Medical Center. I also have specialized training and certification in Imago Relationship Therapy.
I have worked extensively with adults and couples in private practice, group practice, and community mental health settings for over 20 years. I have a rich blend of professional experience that informs my psychotherapy practice, that includes prior work as a hospice bereavement counselor, a career counselor, a corporate human relations trainer, a hatha yoga teacher, and a meditation instructor. In 1989, I interned with Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center's Stress Reduction Clinic, and in 2002 I completed an advanced teacher intensive for the mindfulness-based stress reduction program (MBSR). I have taught MBSR in hospital and community mental health settings in New Hampshire, as well as running therapy groups on mindfulness-based cognitive therapy for mood management and mindful eating groups.
A prominent aspect of my approach to individual therapy is integrating mindfulness and psychotherapy. I enjoy helping clients develop their inner resources to self-regulate their thoughts and feelings, as well as calm themselves and be less reactive to life circumstances. I also work with couples, helping them learn how to communicate in a direct, respectful way, and helping them cultivate trust and compassion in their relationship.
